A roof-first specification

Caravan roof coating starts with condition, not colour

Roofs face constant UV, standing dirt, biological growth, frost and wide temperature changes. A successful coating depends on what is already present, how firmly it is attached and whether water ingress or structural repairs need attention first.

Our survey separates cosmetic deterioration from defects that coating cannot solve. Sound surfaces are cleaned, decontaminated, prepared and masked before the specified system is applied. Failed paint, corrosion and local damage are addressed as part of the written scope.

Problems we assess

When a static caravan roof needs attention

Chalking and fading

Powdering or faded surfaces can indicate UV breakdown. The surface must be stabilised and prepared before recoating.

Peeling or failed paint

Loose previous coatings are not a suitable foundation. Failed edges and adhesion problems need controlled removal and preparation.

Corrosion and local damage

Metal corrosion, damaged seams and suspect details are assessed before the new coating is specified.

Dirt, algae and contamination

Cleaning is a technical preparation stage. Residues can prevent adhesion even when the roof looks visually clean.

Previous repair products

Sealants, patches and incompatible coatings can react differently. Their condition and compatibility must be checked.

Colour and heat exposure

Colour choice and solar exposure are considered alongside the roof material and required service performance.

Important limits

A roof coating is not a substitute for leak repair

Coating can renew and protect a suitable surface, but it should not be used to conceal active leaks, rotten substrate, failed joints or structural movement. Those faults need diagnosis and repair before cosmetic coating work.

Safe access also matters. Roof height, pitch layout, decking, adjacent caravans and permitted working areas are included in the quote so the programme is realistic.

Built for real caravan sites

Onsite planning across the UK

Every quote considers the caravan location, pitch access, neighbouring units, decking, permitted working hours and any park approval. We plan containment, masking and movement before application so the work can be delivered cleanly on a live site.

Send the postcode or holiday park with your photographs. We cover projects nationwide and can also coordinate work before a caravan is moved onto a new pitch.

Common questions

Static caravan roof coating FAQs

Can you coat a caravan roof that is peeling?

Potentially, but failed material must be assessed and removed back to a sound edge. The required preparation depends on why the existing coating failed.

Will roof coating stop a leak?

A coating is not a substitute for repairing active leaks, failed joints or structural damage. Those issues must be corrected first.

Can the roof be coated while the caravan is on a holiday park?

Yes, where safe access and park permission allow. Neighbouring units, decking and working hours are included in the plan.

How long does caravan roof coating last?

Service life depends on the roof material, preparation, coating system, exposure and maintenance. The applicable protection is confirmed with the written specification.
